Coppell TV Repair LLC offers the EEPROM / flash memory IC containing the firmware for the main board 3647-0302-0150 (PCB label 0171-2272-3237, but that may not be unique) used in Vizio M470NV LED TV.
Please read carefully the below information and specifically the warranty conditions section!
Do not hesitate to ask if you have questions and good luck with your TV repairs!
Failure symptoms and testing procedure
There is no simple and efficient way we know to determine EEPROM has gone bad.
Those devices are huge in sizes, organized into blocks of memory and any one of those blocks can fail, resulting in all kinds of different symptoms from totally dead TV to particular application misbehaving and everything in between.
When in doubt we simply take off the EEPROM and test it on a good working board. Of course we do not test all the apps on it individually, but at least cover the basic functionality - that it is capable of starting and operating the TV.
This is also how we test newly programmed ICs and this is the ONLY reliable way we are aware of doing it.
Unless you have a good board with a socket and you can test the EEPROM you suspect is bad you are simply making a bet by replacing it that the problem is there. Note that per our warranty and return policy (below) we will not take back components that were soldered on a board!
Kit contents: The EEPROM / flash memory IC found on Vizio main board 3647-0302-0150. The IC is located under the main processor's heat sink and component label is U6. The IC we will send is brand new and contains the firmware for Vizio M470NV LED TV.
Difficulty level: Medum to advanced. The memory IC requires soldering by experienced technician with quality soldering tool.
Generic firmware failure symptoms: As with most if not all other cases for failed firmware there is no simple and definite way to test confirm the problem is there, let alone only there. Below are some symptoms we've seen caused by a defective memory IC however you should bear in mind other failures may lead to the same symptoms.
- A totally dead TV; this is actually model specific. Some older TVs have separate standby processor and most newer models use a single processor for standby and full operation mode. A bad firmware (or bad clock generator, for example, or bad solder joint on the processor) could leave the entire board dead.
- Some TVs may be blinking a number of time and pausing or just continuously blinking , in either case not responding to any button. Some may respond to the power on only to start the blinking procedure again.
Repair service offered: Yes. If you consider the job too difficult or if you have reasons to believe the problem is not in the memory IC or if you would like to use the benefits of the warranty our repair services carry (and which our repair kits do not) search at our site for a risk free repair service for Vizio M470NV main board.
Coppell TV Repair LLC does not guarantee that this product is all that is needed to resolve the problems with your TV.
Most of the repair kits we offer are based on first hand experience servicing boards at our repair facility.
Over time they may get expanded with our own experience or information from manufacturer service bulletins, customer feedback etc.
Yet failure can be unique and there can not be guarantee that what has worked one, ten or even hundred times will also work the next one.
Just as important, every repair involves about equal portion of quality of parts and quality of worksmanship and as we have no control over the worksmanship quality unless we are the ones performing it we would be unwise to provide warranty of the products utilized by that worksmanship.
As such, no warranty is offered on this product once the components in it are soldered on a board.
If you would like warranty please see if a REPAIR SERVICE is offered instead of a kit. Unless otherwise noted all our repair services do come with a standard warranty.
Coppell TV Repair LLC is not aware of an easy and reliable way available to end users that will allow them to identify beyond doubt a defective or corrupt memory IC.
We describe failure symptoms that we have seen when the firmware IC was corrupted, but those symptoms do not directly map to defective memory IC and the other way around - an EEPROM can be deffective or corrupt and there may be other symptoms that are not listed here.
It is up to the buyer's technical skills, equipment and willingness to assume the risk for the outcome of their repair service effort when purchasing and using this product!
By placing an order customers agree to assume that risk and hold Coppell TV Repair LLC free of accusations and charges related to the outcome of their repair except in regards to the correct presentation of the product and its delivery.
Coppell TV Repair LLC guarantees that the offered memory is new, tested and functional to the best of company's knowledge.
To anyone who does not have the skill and equipment needed to diagnose the IC in their own board we strongly recommend using a purchase/trade-in or a repair service, which we may (and should) be offering for the main board.
